Dimensions and Functions of Urban Innovation Areas and Presentation of Its Development Strategies (Case Study: Sharif Innovation Area)

Objective: The present study aims to identify the dimensions and functions of urban innovation areas and present its development strategies (Case Study: Sharif Innovation Area).
Design/Methodology/Approach: There are very few studies and research conducted on urban innovation areas in Iran. This study actually focuses on the role of urban management in the development of these areas. The research method follows the research method of content analysis and thematic analysis. For this purpose, by studying the theoretical foundations and research backgrounds as well as interviewing experts, four components of governance/management, physical/physical, social and financial/economic were selected from this concept and a model with 21 sub-themes and 44 items was presented.
Research findings: Research findings show that the governance/management component is more important than other components, and the physical, social, and financial/economic components are in the next ranks.
Conclusion: The newest ecosystem of the innovation ecosystem is the urban innovation districts. A phenomenon that has a very strong urban dimension and has attracted everyone's attention by using innovation in all urban dimensions and the innovation and technology ecosystem. In Iran, this concept is also very new and emerging, and by modeling it on foreign examples, an attempt has been made to demonstrate a successful experience of this concept.
