The rapid and unbalanced physical development of cities has had many undesirable economic, social, and physical consequences, of which marginalization is one of these effects. The availability of affordable housing in suburban areas, commensurate with the financial affordability of suburban residents, is one of the most important factors driving migration to these settlements. Evidence suggests that these homes lack the necessary standards and are not of appropriate utility. This has happened at a time when half of people's time is spent at home and in residential environments, and the desirability of housing has a direct impact on the quality of life of residents. In this way, identifying the characteristics of desirable housing provides architects and urban planners with an overview of the development of appropriate housing design criteria. Therefore, the present study aims to present a desirable housing model in the urban periphery with an emphasis on improving physical quality. The research method is qualitative and content analysis using MAXQDA software. Data collection was carried out using documentary methods as well as open and in-depth interviews with 15 experts in the field of suburban housing. Data analysis in a three-step coding process using software resulted in the emergence of 35 subcategories within 8 main categories. After conceptual classification of subcategories and their integration, their number was reduced to 18 final categories. Ultimately, these 8 main categories and the final 18 subcategories formed the structure of the research model.
